Talk of the Town

Farmersville recently got a new hamburger joint called Charlie’s and I’m so excited about it. It is a real restaurant (as opposed to an old gas station that has been converted into a restaurant). It has a hometown feel, atmosphere, and the food is great, and they serve Blue Bell, the best ice cream in the country.

Gigi and I decided we would take the boys to Charlie’s for lunch today because the boys were making us crazy and we hoped a little change of scenery would help. As we were getting seated, Barrett announced that he needed to potty. I suspect that he really just wanted to try out the new different bathroom and more specifically, the toilet flusher! I let him go, got him off and told him to pull up his pants while I went. (We’re working on getting him to pull up his own pants and underwear right now). As I was mid-stream, Barrett opened the door (which was a push-button lock that unlocks when you turn the lever - ugh!). I saw that he had his pants and underwear around his ankles and was running for the dining room! I jumped up and was still zipping my own pants when I rounded the corner myself! Yes, he made it entirely into the dining area showing the full monty—and don’t think anyone ordered a hot dog!

My apologies to the lady who went into the bathroom oh so quickly after our hurried exit. Quite obviously, I didn't have time to flush.

Our Trip to the Beach "Top 10 List"

By Barrett and Kyle

10. Feeding the seagulls and getting completely surrounded by them. It was sometimes hard to give them the popcorn rather than keep it for ourselves.

9. Collecting seashells…and seaweed and giving them to mommy as gifts.

8. Squishing wet sand between my fingers and toes.

7. Trying to catch seagulls. We would get sooo close but then they would fly away and laugh at us.

6. Playing in the pool with Grandma and Papa in our “motor boat” floats.

5. Burying daddy in the sand.

4. Playing Frisbee on the beach with Daddy and Uncle Casey.

3. Jumping waves in the ocean.

2. Destroying every attempt anyone made at making a sandcastle. We are the wrecking crew!

1. Getting to eat PANCAKES almost every morning!

An American Tale

As we were leaving to the airport to go out of town, we found 2 mice on a glue trap we had laid out. If you have ever used a glue trap, you may know that sometimes the mice are still living when you find them. However, if you have ever tried to remove a living mouse from a glue trap you know how you end up stuck to the trap and the mouse ends up wishing he was still stuck to it. We had to take them to the trash at the road but there was no way they were getting in the already packed car with me and the kids already inside and we hadn’t scheduled time in our getting-to-the airport plan for the disposal of mice. These mice were still alive. So,they rode on the roof of the car ¼ mile down the gravel drive from our garage to the road. I just pictured them up there whooping it up, hanging ten on their surf board waxed with glue. What a way to go!
Before the animal-pitying people email me, let me say that I did feel a tinge of sadness for the little squeakers, then I remembered the hundreds of dollars of damage they have done to our cars, and the feeling was gone with the wind through their hair.

"Airpwane":
Barrett and Kyle went on their first plane ride! They were so excited about the plane, the pilot, the airport! There was no crying, tantrums, fits or fighting. The boys did great too! I brought lots of raisins, grapes, books, and Play-Doh.

I love the wonderment of their world.

Blueberries are the new black

Blueberries and blackberries are favorites for the boys. I have seen little girls eat and they are so meticulous and tidy, never missing their mouths. How nice...Here's Kyle...

Barrett tells me, "Tyle has a beard on!"

Home, Home on the Range

Yesterday morning Kyle found some cowboy boots Grandma had given him so I decided to snap some photos while they still fit. So I put Barrett on the potty while Kyle and I went on the porch for our quick photo session. Here's Kyle saying "Howdy Pardner!"

Shortly after I took these 2 shots Barrett comes outside in his birthday suit and sees Kyle getting his picture taken and says he wants to wear some boots too. He then went inside, only to reappear shortly wearing nothing but his daddy's cowboy boots! I, of course, took photos of this very funny sight. (Unfortunately, I will not be posting them on here due to unwanted onlookers)

Later in the afternoon, we had a visitor: Mr. Turtle (or Fwoggie, as Barrett called him)
