I'm not sure if I'm Irish...

but you can go ahead and kiss me! There is something so fun about St. Patrick's Day. Some of us decided to meet at the park for a St. Patty's Day picnic. The weather held out despite the forecasts of impending doom and we were able to have a great time!

Movin' on up

To the Fast side. To that high speed internet in the sky-y-y.

That's right. We got high speed internet. For about a year we had hold-on-my page-is-still-loading-dial-up. No more driving 30 minutes to Panera to upload! You may have noticed the plethora of photos in my last blog post, that's because it didn't take 10 minutes per photo! We actually got the high speed internet 2 weeks ago, but I have been too busy surfing the internet to write this post.

Wow! I had a great time on Saturday at the roller skating rink! Thank you to all who came to celebrate my arrival into the thirties--you really made my day! Kinda makes turning thirty not so bad...although the soreness I'm feeling is new and not so great...but TOTALLY worth it. (there are parts of me that are sore that I didn't even realize I used in roller skating)

I guess Barrett won't be following in my footsteps and doing speed skating meets by age 5. That's fine by me--Forge your own path in life, boys. Don't be a follower.

Snow on March 4th

Kyle enjoyed looking at it and kept saying "That?" Barrett was very excited and told us "the snow is very, very told." I got them up extra early just so they would have enough time to play before we had to leave. It's not every day (or I should say every year) it snows here and I did not want them to miss this.

Turning 30...

I had a great birthday last Wednesday. Thank you to my friends and family who wished me a happy day. It was a pretty normal day. I played outside with the boys before heading to the dentist. We went out for a family steak dinner because it was beef day on the allergy rotation. For my birthday, Cody is getting me the chairs for our living room I have been wishing for. I guess this means our future guests won’t have to sit in these chairs!

The best part of the whole day was when we were walking out of Barrett’s room after tucking him in, he said, “Happy Birthday, Mommy!” We closed the door. He said it again. And again. I could still hear him saying it as I was walking down the stairs. When I got down, I turned up the monitor to hear him still saying it. Sighhhh…

The big celebration will be on March 15 when we take it back to my childhood and go rollerskating! That should be fun and I look forward to watching Barrett skate. I was his age when I first learned to skate.

showers and superpowers

We had a busy weekend. On Saturday, we went to the Newman’s baby shower. Everything was wonderful—the food, the friends, the weather. Danielle made such a lovely cake that I thought it was ordered from a professional! I hope Princess Peanut got all she needs for her first few months and more!

Then, we headed to a costume party…yes, in February. It was a superheroes party. I thought about what power would I want if I could have any power. So I went as SuperMom complete with 6 arms for simultaneous multitasking and eyes on the back of my head. Cody was Duct Tape Man—he’s on the job if anything needs fixing because if you can’t duct it…Heather was Slumber Woman, armed with everything needed to help one fall asleep quickly. As the mother of a newborn, I guess she’s got sleep on the brain. Chris had a body part with superpowers. You asked it a question and it would give you the answer. He was inspired by a SNL skit.

Hair we go again

another blog entry about hair...not really...just a funny picture about hair and a goofy face. Aww, I love it-makes me laugh.

I am so glad I named my blog "The Little Things." It is so appropriate. I am so grateful to my blog. It has made me really appreciate these little things and actually photograph them. I wasn't photographing the little things before. The photographer in me wanted the background to be perfect, their clothes to be just right, their hair combed (as you can see from my last blog, I gave up on that one!) etc. I begged my husband to be in charge of taking "snapshots" of the little things but he did not want the job. Now, thanks to this blog, we will always have a picture to make us smile or laugh at Kyle's static-y hair or Barrett's bedhead. And we will never forget the lyrics to that song that I sing every morning.
